I&#039;ve dealt with a number of VC members who said &quot;we believe in the person, the team&quot; and the real story behind the scenes is that they are personal friends and even drinking buddies. 

Friends invest in each other, whether through time and effort or straight cash. 

If someone likes you, they will do everything to make it happen. 
If someone doesn&#039;t like you, good luck.</description>

		<description>If the VC network is something MONEY CAN&#039;T BUY, though no one would say that about their experience/advice, it seems like the lesson to be learned is that IT&#039;S WHO YOU KNOW that determines who succeeds.  In other words, if you&#039;re &quot;IN&quot; -- you can buy money.  If you&#039;re &quot;OUT&quot; the money will do their best in collaboration to keep you down.</description>
